Chiropractic care is a specialized medical treatment for an active illness or injury, as well as, preventative care. The primary focus is to remove dysfunctions in the spine that may be causing interferences for the body’s nervous system. Chiropractic care also provides treatments including manual therapy, adjustments to joints, and soft tissues, as well as exercises, stretches and health and lifestyle guidance.

At Kehres Health & Chiropractic we put priority on considering our patient's total health.  We look beyond the apparent to understand the root of the cause to ensure our chiropractic care will help address a resolution not just a short-term fix.

Like brace on your teeth or any other adjustment to the body, at times, chiropractic care can take time. Many injury or illness causes, such as sitting at a desk or heavy lifting on the job, are regular activities for our patients therefore we work to strengthen your body to prevent repetitive impairment.

As a patient of Kehres Health & Chiropractic, we build a unique care plan that is tailored to you. The timeline is based on what your body and health needs.  The objective is to transition you through repair, into stability and on to as needed care.

CHIROPRACTIC CARE

Prenatal Chiropractic

During pregnancy, a woman’s lower back and upper spine experience increased curvature due to her displaced center of gravity. This places stress on the spinal disks and can cause excessive discomfort. Chiropractic adjustments can provide relief from the increased spinal discomfort. The primary technique used for prenatal chiropractic care is the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is also known as a treatment method for allowing ideal birthing positioning of the baby. The Webster Technique has a strong success rate for the movement of a breech baby to an optimal birthing position1. Chiropractors can also offer guidance regarding ergonomics and exercises to alleviate discomfort.

Chiropractic care should also be considered for postpartum care, as ligaments that loosened during pregnancy begin to tighten again. Any joint problems brought on from improper lifting or reaching should be treated before the ligaments return to their pre-pregnancy tension to prevent muscular tension, headaches, rib discomfort, and shoulder issues.

Pediatric Chiropractic

Chiropractic care for children can be an imperative supplement to a child’s develop. As the body
develops, regular adjustments ensure the child’s spine and bone structure develop in the optimal
position. Adjustments can also be critical within the first week of a child’s life as modern birthing
techniques may cause spinal trauma2.

Chiropractic care in adolescents has also been attributed to improvements in sleep patterns, behavior
and attitudes and their immune system3.

The role of the chiropractic care is not to treat unrelated conditions or illnesses, but to check for spinal
misalignments that could be impairing the nervous systems normal functions.

Dr. Dan Kehres is a member of the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association. All Kehres Health
doctors have been trained and have a lot of experience working with babies and children.

Sports Chiropractic

Chiropractic care can play a vital role in the wellness of an athlete. As their bodies are put under extreme circumstances, manipulations of their spine, bones, ligaments and muscles can cause long-term trauma. Regular chiropractic care can help ensure the body is working under ideal alignment. It also ensure injuries are treated immediately.

Jeff Janis, Saginaw Valley State University alum and current Green Bay Packers wide receiver, was a former patient of Kehres Health & Chiropractic.

“Getting adjusted weekly, especially during football season, helped me perform to my maximum potential,” Janis said. “It was a huge help to make sure I stayed healthy and played my best.”

Dr. Dan Kehres is the official chiropractor for SVSU athletes and the first chiropractor added to their sports medicine staff. Dr. Travis Falkner also has a lot of experience with athletes as he worked with the University of Missouri Athletics Department.
